Beginner's Guide to Building a Skincare Collection
Building a skincare collection can feel overwhelming, especially when faced with endless product options and conflicting advice. The good news is that an effective routine does not require dozens of products — a focused collection of five to seven well-chosen items will serve most people well.
Start with the essentials: a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer suited to your skin type, and a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30. These three products form the foundation of any good skincare routine. Once you have these basics covered, you can gradually add targeted treatments like serums, exfoliants, and eye creams.
When shopping, resist the temptation to buy everything at once. Introduce one new product at a time, using it consistently for at least two weeks before adding another. This approach helps you identify what works for your skin and avoids the confusion of not knowing which product is causing a reaction — positive or negative.
